A pulpit swap today with Unitarian Church of Marlborough Hudson sends Rev. Cindy to Hudson and brings Nan Rogers Flavin of UCMH to us. - Noticing is more than just observing; it is recognizing and making conscious, activated only when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable and receptive. Our Noticing sets us on a path of love and compassion; it compels us to Hold Hands. Once reoriented to our personal and shared values, together we ignite the fire of Community inside the crucible that is Unitarian Universalism.

That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” As our congregation considers a name change, and in a culture that is persecuting people who choose name change, we’ll look at the power of naming and being able to choose a name.

Google "Question Box Sermon" and you'll find that these sermons are an old favorite of many UU ministers, often done at the end of the year. This year is such an unusual one in both the FPC community and the world, however, that it makes sense to stop, pause, and talk as a community about some of the things that are on our hearts and minds right now. We're merging with another church. There's been a lot of action around specific social justice issues that are getting intense in our community. "Land Acknowledgement and Land Back: Native Perspectives"

Lay Leader Aimeé Snyder Ledwell and the Morningstar Singers

The Morning Star Singers are a women’s traditional hand drum group from the United Native American Cultural Center in Devens, MA. Founded under our former Chief, Ronald Jerome (Mi’kmaq), this group seeks to preserve and continue the tradition of women’s singing in native culture.

The Morning Star Singers regularly participate in cultural outreach programs, events and Powwows in the Eastern United States. The group is intertribal and consists of members and descendants of multiple native native nations as well as non native women who wish to sing and participate in our beautiful traditions.

In this time of death and violence at home and abroad, particularly in the wake of the deaths at the hands of ICE this week and those that led up to this time, we gather together in resistance and resilience.  This will be a time for sharing our grief and our gratitude, with a ritual structure curated by Intern Minister Yaakov Trek Reef, rooted in Matthew Fox's Creation Spirituality & Joanna Macy's The Work That Reconnects.

I think empathy is a made-up New Age term that – it does a lot of damage."  Since then, the war on empathy has gotten stronger. What is empathy, and what is our faith’s relationship to this concept?
