Community Activities

Get to know the people of UCAV by participating in these fun activities, all of which welcome newcomers!

  • Board Games Night - We enjoy playing table-top games together once a month in our vestry. Check our calendar or Facebook page for upcoming events.  

  • Book Group - Our book group is a regularly meeting group that decides together on a wide variety of books to read. Book Group meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm by zoom.   • Bridge Group - A group of members meet every week on Friday at 1pm to play bridge.  Newcomers always welcome!  Location varies, so check our calendar or contact bridge@uucav.org for more information.  

  • Coffee and Chat - Every week congregation members gather at the gazebo in the town park next door to the church, and have coffee (BYO coffee) and chat.  Newcomers welcome!

  • Guest Table - A monthly dinner open to the whole community, cooked & served by UUCAV members and the larger community of volunteers. 

  • Peace Vigil - Every Thursday evening for over 20 years except in the worst of weather we join together to protest for peace on the Town Common in front of the chuch building. 

  • Ferry Beach Retreat – We go on a church-wide weekend retreat at Ferry Beach in Maine in the spring (often April), for relaxation, recharge, and getting to know each other better and enjoy each other’s company in a different setting. For more information, email retreat@uucav.org.

Fundraising Involvement

Some of our favorite activities are gathering together to run fundraisers for the church or programs for the wider community, and all of them help forge connections and friendships!

  • Assabet Craft Beer & Food Truck Festival - A fun family fund raiser to benefit the church and showcase local brewers. Takes place on Labor Day weekend in front of the church with craft brews, food trucks, live music, games, crafts, and fun for all ages. 

  • Apple Pie Project - Four weeks in the fall, many hands help picking, carrying, washing, peeling, doughmaking and rolling, filling, baking, bagging, selling, and tasting! For more information about the Apple Pie Project, contact applepies@uucav.org for more information.

  • Annual Auction - A spring social and fundraising goods and services auction for the whole community. Our annual auction always has a fun theme, and people often come in costume! For more information about our auction, contact auction@uucav.org.

  • Plant Sale - Our annual plant sale is usually held around Mother’s Day in the church parking lot. For more information about the sale, contact plant-sale@uucav.org.
